What should happen before a deposit?

Make the price comparable

Write down whether it is a used cash price, a quoted price with COE, or something else. Add the quote date and every mandatory fee before comparing it with another car.

Read the ownership window

Put the registration date, COE expiry and any renewal history beside the asking price. A lower price can simply be buying fewer usable years.

Check the exact car

A battery report, service history, transfer path and charging routine belong to this car—not to a model review or an advertised monthly figure.

What to collect for every car.

Keep the seller’s original records and source links. If a number cannot be supported, mark it as an assumption.

Price and quote date: The price basis, dealer fees and any condition attached to the quote.
COE and registration: The exact expiry, original registration date and whether it has been renewed.
Transfer and finance: Whether financing has been settled and who completes the OneMotoring transfer.
Battery and warranty: The original diagnostic report, its date and what the remaining warranty actually covers.
Condition and history: Service, accident and repair records; tyres, warning lights and both keys on the test drive.
Your charging plan: Where the car will normally charge, what it costs, and a realistic public-charging fallback.

A monthly instalment can hide the cash price, COE window, financing terms and future exit. An annual depreciation figure is useful only when the registration, COE and price basis are visible beside it.
