Driving Through Floodwater
MG advises drivers to avoid flooded areas if possible. If you must drive through water, keep the level below half the wheel height, or no more than 30 centimeters. Drive slowly at 5 to 10 km/h and lightly tap the brakes.
After exiting the water, dry the brakes by driving at a moderate speed and pressing the brake pedal firmly a few times. This helps restore braking performance and cleans the brake discs.
Engine Bay Checks
Park in a safe place and open the hood. Check the air filter: if it is wet, water may have entered the engine. If the engine stalls after driving through water, do not restart it. Call for a tow truck immediately. Water in the cylinders can bend connecting rods and destroy the engine.
Inspect the engine belt for debris, and check the oil dipstick. If the oil looks milky or cloudy, water has entered the system. Also check coolant hoses for damage, and examine the ECU and fuse box for moisture. If you find water droplets, take the car to a service center to prevent electrical shorts.
EV and Hybrid Safety
