On March 26, 2026, the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT) played a key role in pushing Thai entrepreneurs into modern supply chains at a seminar and special panel discussion titled “Driving the Future: Opportunities and Transformation of the Automotive Industry in the Eastern Region.” The event was held at the Bangsaen Heritage Hotel in Chonburi and organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) in collaboration with Informa Markets.

Key Highlights from EVAT Representatives

EVAT President Suroj Sangsnit delivered a special lecture on “The Future of the xEV Market and Smart Mobility: New Directions for Thailand and the Region.” He presented an overview of the rapidly growing xEV market both domestically and across ASEAN. He emphasized Thailand’s opportunity to become a Smart Mobility hub and stressed the need for manufacturers to adapt to new technologies.

EVAT Vice President Siamnat Panussorn served as moderator and co-speaker in a panel titled “The Intelligence of xEV: When Thai Parts Must Be Driven by Electronics and Innovation.” The panel included experts from BMW (Thailand), Delta Electronics, and Thai Subcon. Key discussion points included:

  • OEM Perspectives: In-depth look at what automakers (OEMs) require when selecting EV component suppliers.
  • International Standards: Guidelines for upgrading Thai parts manufacturers to global standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q to meet EV safety requirements.
  • Technology Adoption: Integrating electronic innovations into automotive parts to gain a competitive edge.

This participation reinforced EVAT’s role as a bridge between the government (BOI), automakers (OEMs), and Thai parts suppliers (Suppliers) to concretely prepare for the automotive industry transition in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
