MG boosts EV skills training with Thai university partnership

MG Thailand has strengthened its collaboration between industry and education to develop electric vehicle (EV) talent. On July 2, 2026, SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd. and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. hosted a training session for 20 lecturers, staff, and students from the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Electrical and Electronics Technology program at Muban Chom Bueng Rajabhat University.

The training took place at the Gabriel Mary Building, New Energy Vehicle Research and Learning Center, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus. Participants gained both theoretical and practical knowledge, starting with EV technology basics, vehicle system architecture, main components and their functions, basic troubleshooting, and high-voltage safety procedures. They also practiced using personal protective equipment under the supervision of MG expert trainers.

Mr. Chatchawit Tantraporn, Deputy Managing Director of MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said the activity is part of MG's partnership with educational institutions to support EV learning by integrating industry knowledge into academia. This prepares personnel for the automotive industry transition and promotes Cooperative and Work Integrated Education (CWIE), linking classroom learning with real work experience.

MG Sales (Thailand) will use the Gabriel Mary Building as a learning, training, and skill development hub for EVs. It also opens opportunities for educational institutions, industry, and related agencies to exchange knowledge and jointly develop quality personnel. The center is the first EV skill development hub of the Chinauto group in Thailand, supporting the growth of the new energy vehicle industry and enhancing the country's long-term competitiveness.
