MG Thailand H1 Sales Surge 67%, Raises 2026 Target to 36,000 Units
By Paul
MG Thailand announced a strong first half of 2026, with registrations reaching 16,920 units, a 67% increase year-on-year. This growth outpaced the overall Thai auto market, which grew 16% to 374,424 units in the same period. MG now holds a 4.5% market share, securing a spot in the top five brands.
Top Models and Revised Target
The best-selling models were the NEW MG S5 EV PLUS e-SUV with 6,341 units, the MG4 ELECTRIC hatchback with 6,018 units, and the MG IM6 smart e-SUV with 1,013 units. Given this momentum, MG raised its 2026 sales target from 30,000 to 36,000 units.
DUAL-MARKET Strategy
For the second half, MG will pursue a “DUAL-MARKET” approach, targeting both mass-market and premium EV segments. In the mass market, the company will continue promoting the MG S5 EV PLUS, the new MG URBAN city car, and the MG4 ELECTRIC. For the premium segment, MG IM6 and MG IM5 will be supported, with limited edition versions planned. Two e-MPVs, the MG MAXUS 7 and MG MAXUS 9, target family buyers. All EVs come with an EV LIFETIME WARRANTY. The MG3 HYBRID+ will drive internal combustion engine sales.
Marketing and Service Enhancements
Marketing will focus on explaining smart technology features to help customers choose the right model. MG will also strengthen its community and offer exclusive experiences, inviting customers to participate in product development. Service improvements include the “MG SMILE” initiative, raising service standards and implementing the E-WORKSHOP system for faster, more accurate repairs. The company plans to upgrade its 126 dealerships under the “NEW ERA OF MG DEALER” concept.
MG aims to become one of Thailand's top three auto brands within this decade, emphasizing quality growth and a sustainable automotive ecosystem.
